Health & Safety Policy
Our commitment
Chaplin Building & Repointing Ltd is committed to providing and maintaining a safe and healthy working environment for all employees, subcontractors, clients and members of the public who may be affected by our activities. Health and safety is a primary consideration on every project we undertake.
Scope
This policy applies to all Chaplin Building & Repointing operations, including site works, surveys, office activities and the management of subcontractors. It is reviewed at least annually and whenever there is a significant change to the way we work.
Responsibilities
The Director holds overall responsibility for health and safety. Site supervisors are responsible for day-to-day implementation. Every operative is responsible for following safe systems of work, using PPE provided, and reporting hazards.
Risk assessment & method statements
A site-specific risk assessment and method statement (RAMS) is produced for every project before work begins. RAMS are reviewed with operatives at site induction and updated when site conditions change.
PPE
All operatives are issued with appropriate PPE including hard hat, safety footwear, hi-vis, gloves, eye protection and respiratory protection where required. PPE is replaced when damaged or worn.
Training & competency
All operatives hold a current CSCS card appropriate to their role. Specialist competencies (working at height, IPAF, PASMA, first aid, asbestos awareness) are maintained and recorded.
Subcontractor management
Subcontractors are pre-qualified before engagement and are required to work to Chaplin Building & Repointing's RAMS or to provide their own approved equivalents. Insurance and competency certificates are checked before work begins.
Incident reporting
All accidents, near-misses and dangerous occurrences are reported, investigated and recorded. RIDDOR-reportable incidents are notified to the HSE without delay.
Review
This policy is reviewed annually by the Director and updated as required. Chaplin Building & Repointing Ltd — reviewed annually.
